About us
Who we are
findsurfcamp.com is made and run by Senén Hermida, a software developer who lives in Madrid and has spent the last five years on surf trips, mostly to Portugal (Ericeira and Costa da Caparica), Fuerteventura, Galicia and Somo in Cantabria.
The site started because the information needed to choose a camp was scattered across each operator's own website, and there was no good comparison site for surf camps alone. It compares them on facts that are hard to find side by side: what a surf week costs, what it includes, which months bring waves for your level, how warm the water is and how far the camp is from the airport. Senén builds the site and the scripts that collect and check its data.
Independent
No camp pays to appear on the site or to be placed higher in a list. We sell nothing and take no bookings: every "Visit website" button takes you to the camp's own site.
Where the figures come from
Every price is read on the camp's own website and kept with the page and the date it was checked. Waves come from thirty years of the Copernicus Marine wave reanalysis, water temperature from NOAA satellite data. "How we get our data" explains each figure, and our two studies, on what a surf week costs and on water temperature in winter, publish the data behind them.
